Luz Amparo Briceño Triana
Attorney – “Universidad Externado de Colombia” (1989), Specialist in Administrative Law – “Universidad Externado de Colombia” (1994), Tax Law Specialist – “Universidad Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario” (1994), with more than seventeen (17) years of professional experience. She has provided legal services and legal advice to national and international companies in the areas of investments, contracts and business structuring for the oil and gas sector in Colombia, accumulating a great deal of experience in both the legal and administrative area for operating companies and services companies in the oil and gas industry and construction industry. Since 1997, she has been the legal representative of operators and service companies in the oil sector. In addition to acting as legal counsel, this has included developing and implementing management programs for these businesses. In addition to ongoing activities such as legal representative and legal advisor, she has significant experience with the following: (i) Establishment and sale of local branches of foreign companies, incorporation of local companies, provision of administrative and management services for local companies and branches in the oil and gas sector. (ii) Creation, development, investigation and due diligence and/or implementation of joint ventures, joint operating agreements, consortiums, partnerships and other forms of association and complementary with trust figures for the construction industry, in accordance with the Colombian legal system. (iii) Association agreements for services relating to the discovery, development and enhancement of oil fields (Ecopetrol) and for the granting of oil and gas concessions (i.e. exploration and production contracts between operating companies and the ANH – the National Hydrocarbons Agency). (iv) Drafting and interpretation of legislation relevant to the upstream and downstream of the oil and gas industry, (v) Preparation of contracts for the drilling of oil wells, workover and well servicing and related services, and contracts for the construction industry in general, (vi) Preparation of contracts BOMT, EPC and BOM, (vii) Assistance in bidding processes, merits contests and tenders. For more than fifteen (15) years, she has been legal adviser to CAMPETROL, the Colombian trade association representing service companies in the oil and gas sector. In 2012 she was appointed as Campetrol’s negotiator to develop model agreements with Ecopetrol S.A. for contract drilling and workover services.
Diego Armando Martinéz Jurado
Attorney – “Pontificia Universidad Javeriana” (2007), Specialist in Corporate Law- “Pontificia Universidad Javeriana” (2011). Prior to joining in partnership with Luz Amparo Briceño Triana, Diego benefited from more than six (6) years of experience learning from and working together with Luz Amparo Briceño, as an associate lawyer. Given Diego’s strong performance, capacity and professional ability, he was invited to become a partner of the firm, shortly after it was founded. He has provided legal and advisory services to a broad range of domestic and foreign companies, working specifically in the areas of investments, contracts and corporate law related to the Colombian oil and gas sector. He has developed expertise in structuring investment deals in the oil sector, and particularly in relation to drilling and other service companies operating in that sector. Diego Martinez acts as legal representative and permanent legal consultant for several operating companies as well as oil service companies. During year 1990 he attend the Georgetown University of Washington D.C., United States of America, for English lessons. Since 1991, he has been the legal representative of operators and service companies in the oil sector. In addition to acting as legal counsel, this has included developing and implementing management programs for these businesses. Since 1998, he has been the General Secretary of “Colegio de Abogados Mineros y Petroleros de Colombia”.
